What do you do?
I create various media related to sound. I’m a musician, songwriter, composer, and sound recordist. I am interested in human creativity as a whole, but sound is the medium I feel most versed in. Audio is transformative to me in a way that other media are not. It can change your outlook in moments, it can be experienced instantly, and at the same time is ephemeral.
How long have you been at this?
I started learning guitar 22 years ago, followed by double bass. I have performed live, in person and online, solo and in groups. I have broadened my formal study of sound in the past year to include audio production and sound reinforcement and am gaining experience in the industry.
What are you working on right now?
In the past month, I have been creating sound maps based on field recordings from walks around San Francisco.
How do you stay creative?
I get inspired by the books that I read, films I watch, and finding new media to create in. I find that exploring visual media creation can inform my work in sound and vice versa.
